Sweeper

Cleaning a carriageway, a site exit, a storage area.
It deals with the surface — not with what dirtied it.

Other names for this machine: suction sweeper, road washer.

01 Use

What it does

Silhouette of a road sweeper: compact carrier, a wide roller of stiff bristles at the front, and behind it the closed collecting hopper that receives what the roller brings back. Diagrammatic silhouette, without dimensions and not to scale.
What sets it apart:
without a hopper, it only moves the dust about — the hopper is half the machine.

What it does not do. It deals with the surface, not with what dirtied it.

02 Fitting
A compact orange road sweeper cleaning a paved street: its two rotating brushes turn along the gutter and the suction nozzle follows behind. An old street in pale stone, plane trees and bicycles parked along the pavement.
The brushes bring it in, the nozzle sucks it up:
what is swept does not stay on the carriageway.

What governs the fitting of an attachment

  • The volume and the distance They are what decide whether this machine has a place on the site, or whether another will do the same work for less.
  • The room available A machine that cannot manoeuvre does not produce, whatever its capacity.
  • The rate of the neighbouring machines It is rarely calculated and often costs more than the hire:
a machine that waits costs as much as a machine that works.
  • Transport to the worksite It governs what can actually be sent, and it is settled before everything else.
03 Reference point

One model, as a reference point

The values below hold for this model only.
They are there to give an order of magnitude to anyone who has none, not to serve as a reference.

Bucher CityCat VR17e
Hopper capacity
1,7 m³
Sweeping width
1,200 to 2,400 mm, adjustable
Maximum authorised weight
3,5 t
Payload
1,4 t
Power unit
100% electric, 55 kWh LFP battery
Turning radius
4 370 mm

Caveat. A 3.5 t machine that can be driven on a category B licence.
That is what sets it apart from a municipal tool carrier, and what bounds what can be asked of it.

These values are those of one precise model, at one precise date. They do not describe a category:
there are no characteristics of a compact loader in general, there are those of the model you have.
They change from one year to the next and never replace the data sheet of your machine.

Have your machine checked.

Give us the exact model and the work you have in mind.
We check the coupler, the flow, the pressure and the capacity on your machine, and we tell you what fits on it — and what does not.
