Questions and answers

The questions that keep coming back

The questions asked before a purchase, and the answers. Not the questions we would like to be asked:
the ones that really block.

This page grows longer as people write to us. The questions are anonymised — no name, no company, no site — and reworded to serve others.
If yours is not here, ask it :
it may well end up here.

The shortest way

A technical question is often settled in two minutes on the telephone, with the machine in front of you.

01 Before ordering

Before ordering

  • « I know neither my flow rate nor my coupler type.
    Can I still ask? »
Yes, and it is the most frequent case. Both of these figures can be found from the machine model, or from a photo of the end of the dipper arm. Not knowing them has never stopped a study — inventing them has. Where to look on the machine.
  • « How much does it cost? » No price is shown on this site, and that is not an affectation. The same tool, depending on the mounting plate, the coupler size and the finish, does not cost the same. A displayed price would be wrong for most machines — we prefer to price it on yours.
  • « Which brand are you a dealer for? » For none. We manufacture nothing and represent nobody.
That is what allows us to say that a tool will not suit. How this site is made.
  • « Do you deliver and fit? » Delivery is arranged with the order — that is what the site postcode in the form is for. For fitting, tell us in your request:
depending on the tool and the machine, it is not the same job.
02 My machine

My machine

  • « My excavator is on hire.
    Can I still fit a tool? »
Technically yes, but three things change. The coupler is not yours and you cannot modify it; the tool will have to come off at the return; and the hire company must agree — it is their machine.
Tell us at the time of the request:
    it changes what we propose.
  • « My machine has no auxiliary line.
    What is still possible? »
Far more than people think. Buckets of every kind, trapezoidal bucket, forestry rake, forks, hook, grading blade, ripper teeth, mechanical thumb:
none of them needs hydraulics. They are even the tools that turn over the most in a fleet. See them by family.
  • « I have two machines of different makes.
Can a single tool go on both? »
Yes, almost always — by changing the mounting plate, not the tool. It is the most economical arrangement when you have several machines, and it is exactly a rental company's reasoning. The detail.
  • « My excavator is old.
    Will anything still fit? »
    Age is not the criterion:
    the interface is.
A twenty-year-old machine with an identifiable coupler takes a new tool without difficulty.
What complicates matters is a coupler proprietary to one manufacturer and without any designation — and even then, there is almost always a solution by mounting plate.
03 The tool

The tool itself

  • « A more powerful tool is better, isn't it? » Not on a small machine. A more powerful tool is almost always heavier, and weight at the end of the arm is paid for in reach and in stability. A tool that works from closer in works less. Four cases where it is what decides.
  • « What is the difference between a cruncher and a shear? » What they do to the material. The cruncher crushes concrete and frees the reinforcement; the shear cuts steel clean. Taking one for the other means crushing what you meant to cut, or the reverse. Jaws and their uses.
  • « The breaker or the concrete cruncher? » The question is:
is there anything next to it.
The breaker strikes, and the vibration is transmitted to the neighbouring structure.
The cruncher squeezes and transmits nothing. On an occupied site, a party wall or a floor slab, that is often the only criterion that counts.
  • « How long does it last? » We will not answer that question, and here is why. Service life depends on the material, the frequency, the operator and the maintenance. Any figure we gave would be invented. What we can say, on the other hand:
which parts wear, and whether they can be replaced one by one. That is what makes the real cost.
04 About us

About us

  • « Why are there no customer reviews on this site? » Because a review chosen by the seller tells nobody anything. It is not for want of customers:
it is that we name none of them, and that we will name none. A reference is not published without the agreement of the person it concerns, and a testimonial sorted by us would teach you nothing that we could not write ourselves. What we say about ourselves.
  • “Do you really reply within three days?” It is written on every page, and it is kept — on a complete file. Three working days from acknowledgement.
⭐ For a registered customer, on a current project, replies come within 48 to 72 hours. The commitment holds for a project of which we have all the information.
That is the whole point of filling in the form as fully as you can, even where it is not compulsory:
every field filled in saves one round of question and answer, and every round saved shortens the time.
Not knowing stays without consequence — “I don't know” is an answer, and it is provided for.
What lengthens is what you know and that we have to ask you again. For a first request, opening your file with us can lengthen acknowledgement:
afterwards, your technical history is there.
⛔ And the supplier's lead time is added to our reply:
it is not ours, and depending on the project and its particulars it can be long.
  • « Is this site made by an artificial intelligence? » Yes, in part, and it is written in black and white. The site is written with the help of several AIs, under the control of the manager, who decides and approves. Nothing is published here without a request, an idea or an approval from him. The page that sets it out.

A forum for customers is under consideration, so that these questions can be put between professionals and not only to us. It will not open before the site is open to the public, and it will open with real subjects rather than with an empty page.

Is your question not here?

Ask it. Describe the work to be done and give us the machine — or simply a photo of the end of the dipper arm. The questions that keep coming back end up on this page, anonymised, to serve the next person.
