Low-loader

The link that gets forgotten and that decides everything.
What can be sent to a site is not what works best:
it is what fits on the trailer.

Other names for this machine: tank transporter, flatbed, low-bed semi-trailer.

01 Use

What it does

Silhouette of a low-loader outfit: road tractor at the front, low-bed semi-trailer, gooseneck above the fifth wheel, access ramps folded down at the rear. Diagrammatic silhouette, without dimensions and not to scale.
What sets it apart:
the total height, load included, decides what can travel.

Bringing the machine in and taking it away again.
It is the link that decides what can be sent to a site.

What it does not do. Nothing on the site itself.

02 Fitting
A low-bed low-loader, a tracked excavator lashed down with chains, ramps raised at the rear, parked at the entrance to a site at the roadside.
It is what decides what you can hire:
a machine that cannot be transported does not come.

What decides its use

  • The volume and the distance They are what decide whether this machine has a place on the site, or whether another will do the same work for less.
  • The room available A machine that cannot manoeuvre does not produce, whatever its capacity.
  • The rate of the neighbouring machines It is rarely calculated and often costs more than the hire:
a machine that waits costs as much as a machine that works.
  • Transport to the worksite It governs what can actually be sent, and it is settled before everything else.
03 Reference point

One model, as a reference point

The values below hold for this model only.
They are there to give an order of magnitude to anyone who has none, not to serve as a reference.

3-axle low-loader semi-trailer, 38 t
Payload
31 400 kg
Maximum authorised weight
38 000 kg
Deck
9,200 mm long, 2,500 mm wide
Gooseneck height
1 200 mm
Winch
6 t electric, 25 m cable

Caveat. 31.4 t of payload:
it is that figure, and the width of 2.50 m, that decide what can be sent to a site.
A heavier or wider machine calls for an abnormal load convoy, so a delay and an authorisation.

These values are those of one precise model, at one precise date. They do not describe a category:
there are no characteristics of a compact loader in general, there are those of the model you have.
They change from one year to the next and never replace the data sheet of your machine.

Have your machine checked.

Give us the exact model and the work you have in mind.
We check the coupler, the flow, the pressure and the capacity on your machine, and we tell you what fits on it — and what does not.
