Loaders

Compact tracked loader

The same machine on rubber tracks.
It spreads its weight and goes on working on the soft ground where the wheeled version bogs down — at the price of faster wear on abrasive material.

Other names for this machine: compact track loader, rubber-tracked loader, 'delta' for the triangular tracks.

01 Use

What it does

Silhouette of a compact loader mounted on rubber tracks instead of wheels: short chassis, central cab, side arms and bucket at the front. Diagrammatic silhouette, without dimensions and not to scale.
What sets it apart:
the track spreads the weight — it works where the wheel sinks in.

The same machine on rubber tracks:
it spreads its weight and works on soft ground, sand or waterlogged terrain where the wheeled version bogs down.

What it does not do. Rubber tracks and abrasive material do not go well together.
On hot asphalt or sharp stone, the wear is fast.

02 Fitting
A compact loader on rubber tracks, bucket loaded with soil, moving over greasy waterlogged ground cut with ruts; a mini-excavator and a dumper are working behind the fencing.
The tracks carry where the tyres sink in:
that is the whole difference from the wheeled version.

The tracks are not there to go faster:
they are there to carry where tyres would sink in.

What governs the fitting of an attachment

  • The mounting plate Most compact loaders share the same universal attachment plate, which is the reason for their versatility.
But universal does not mean identical:
the check still has to be made.
  • The auxiliary hydraulic flow Two levels exist at most manufacturers:
a standard flow, and an optional high flow.
Many tools only work with the second.
  • The pressure at the quick couplings It governs the force available, independently of the flow.
  • The rated operating capacity It is the figure that manufacturers publish to say what the machine can carry safely.
It is not the weight of the machine and cannot be deduced from it.
  • The overall width It decides what will go through.
On tracks, it also depends on the width of the pads fitted.
03 Reference point

One model, as a reference point

The values below hold for this model only.
They are there to give an order of magnitude to anyone who has none, not to serve as a reference.

Bobcat T66
Standard auxiliary
66.5 l/min
Auxiliary, combined flow
101.8 l/min
Pressure at the couplings
23.8 to 24.5 MPa, that is 238 to 245 bar
Overall width
1,801 mm with 400 mm tracks
Engine power
55,2 kW

Caveat. The manufacturer's page shows two different figures for the operating weight (4,296 kg and 4,000 kg) and two for the rated operating capacity (1,115 kg and 1,110 kg).
I publish neither of them until the manufacturer has been asked.

These values are those of one precise model, at one precise date. They do not describe a category:
there are no characteristics of a compact loader in general, there are those of the model you have.
They change from one year to the next and never replace the data sheet of your machine.

Have your machine checked.

Give us the exact model and the work you have in mind.
We check the coupler, the flow, the pressure and the capacity on your machine, and we tell you what fits on it — and what does not.
