Site telehandler

What the trade calls a Manitou, after the French manufacturer.
A telescopic boom on an all-terrain carrier:
it sets down far and high, without a crane and without heavy stabilisation.

Other names for this machine: telehandler, telescopic handler, and 'a Manitou' - here too a make.

01 Use

What it does

Silhouette of a telescopic handler: four driven wheels, cab at the side, and a telescopic boom sloping above the machine, ending in forks far out in front. Diagrammatic silhouette, without dimensions and not to scale.
What sets it apart:
the further the boom comes out, the less it lifts — the permissible load is read on a chart, never from memory.

A telescopic boom on an all-terrain carrier:
it places a load high up and far out, without a crane and without heavy outriggers.

What it does not do. The permissible load falls as soon as the boom comes out.
It is the chart that governs, not the capacity shown.

02 Fitting
A telescopic handler setting a pallet of bricks down on the upper floor of a building under construction, boom extended at an angle and front outriggers out; the workers stand clear of the load.
The outriggers are not a detail:
they are what permits the reach announced.

A telescopic handler on waterlogged ground, forks loaded with a strapped pallet of blocks, wheels sunk in the mud.
It carries the load right up to the foot of the structure:
it is the ground that decides, not the data sheet.

What governs the fitting of an attachment

  • The tool carriage Forks, bucket, work platform, winch:
each manufacturer has its own carriage, and moving from one to another needs an adapter.
  • The load chart The permissible load collapses as soon as the boom comes out.
It is not the capacity shown that governs, it is the chart at the real reach and height.
  • The hydraulic flow available at the end of the boom It governs the operation of hydraulic tools:
    mixing bucket, sweeper, grab.
  • The load safety circuit A monitoring device limits the machine as soon as the overturning moment is approached.
An undeclared tool can put it into fault.
03 Reference point

One model, as a reference point

The values below hold for this model only.
They are there to give an order of magnitude to anyone who has none, not to serve as a reference.

Manitou MT 1335 100D ST5
Lifting capacity
3 500 kg
Lifting height
12,60 m
Maximum reach
8,65 m
Hydraulics
133 l/min at 260 bar
Breakout force
7,400 daN
Engine power
100 hp, that is 74.40 kW
Unladen weight
9,470 kg (with forks)

Caveat. The capacity of 3,500 kg is the maximum figure, boom retracted.
It collapses as soon as the boom comes out:
it is the manufacturer's load chart that governs, never the figure shown.

These values are those of one precise model, at one precise date. They do not describe a category:
there are no characteristics of a compact loader in general, there are those of the model you have.
They change from one year to the next and never replace the data sheet of your machine.

Have your machine checked.

Give us the exact model and the work you have in mind.
We check the coupler, the flow, the pressure and the capacity on your machine, and we tell you what fits on it — and what does not.
