Attachments for an excavator of more than 20 tonnes

Demolition, quarrying, recycling.
At this tonnage, the attachment is no longer a consumable:
it is an investment that compares with the price of a whole machine.

Other names for this class: big excavator, big digger, demolition excavator, quarry excavator, 25 t excavator, 30 tonne excavator, production excavator.

Your class is the last. At this tonnage, the constraint is no longer technical but economic:
the tool compares with the price of a machine, and is decided on production.
The relative sizes are indicative.

Beyond twenty tonnes, you no longer choose a machine:
you size a haulage cycle, machine and transport together.

01 The class

What this class allows, and what it rules out

Nothing is technically closed to it.
An excavator of this tonnage carries the biggest breakers, high-capacity demolition grabs, large-range screeners, loading grapples.

What changes is the nature of the decision. At this size, an attachment is chosen the way a machine is chosen:
on a calculation of output per hour, a write-off period and a maintenance cost.
A mistake cannot be made good by selling the tool to the neighbour.

It is the class where the preliminary study is worth the most — and where it costs the least. Checking a flow, a coupler size and an operating weight takes a few hours.
Choosing the wrong tool at this level is counted in tens of thousands of euros.

02 What fits

The tools that go on this class

The interface follows the tonnage. An S type coupler recorded covers 1 to 90 t depending on the size, and a hydraulic coupler 4 to 60 t.
Beyond that, you often come back to direct pins — simpler, more robust, and with no loss of height at the end of the arm. See the couplers.

03 Check

What is checked before buying

  • The flow and the pressure, at working values At this tonnage the differences between machine models are considerable, and a high-capacity tool badly fed does not produce what it should. See the 7 criteria.
  • The operating weight, and the arm configuration Standard boom, long boom, short dipper arm:
at equal load, the reach changes everything.
The calculation is made on the real configuration of the machine.
  • The pin dimensions, if the tool mounts directly Diameter, pin centres, width between ears.
They are three measurements, they are taken on the machine, and they cannot be guessed from a serial number.
  • What the tool costs per hour, not only to buy Wear parts, intervals, availability of consumables.
On a tool of this size, it is the maintenance that decides profitability.

Have your machine checked.

Give us the make, the model, the arm configuration and the coupler system.
Above all, tell us what you expect in output:
at this tonnage, it is the output aimed at that designates the tool, not the other way round.
