Attachments for a 10 to 20 tonne excavator
The standard site excavator.
Here the question is no longer “will it fit”
but “does it produce enough” — and the constraint moves towards
transport.
Other names for this class: tracked excavator, earthmoving excavator, digger, 14 t excavator, 20 tonne excavator, site excavator, wheeled excavator of the same tonnage.

what limits it is transport — the width, height and mass of the whole once the tool is fitted.
The relative sizes are indicative.
it loads a lorry without having to move it.

What this class allows, and what it rules out
It is the production machine.
Housing-estate earthworks, roads and utilities, cleaning out
a length of ditch, ordinary demolition, loading:
it does everything, and it does it fast.
Almost no family of attachments is closed to it.
Hydraulic flow and stability are no longer the questions. What
limits it is what can be brought onto the site and taken away again:
beyond a certain machine-plus-tool weight, transport tips into another
category, with its authorisations and its costs.
It is the class where a quick coupler pays for itself fastest.
A machine of this tonnage costs a lot per hour.
Every tool change made by
hand, by two people, with pins to knock out, is paid for in hours of downtime —
and several are made every week.
See the hitching technologies.
The tools that go on this class
-
On-site recycling, at last at full capacity
A screening bucket from a large range, as recorded,
covers 17 to 24 t, another 23 to 40 t.
It is from here on that on-site screening becomes worthwhile. -
Sorting and heavy handling
Clamshell grapple bucket recorded at 2 to 50 t, forestry timber grapple
2 to 35 t.
See the grapples and the sorting grabs. -
Ripping and demolition
A ripping tooth recorded goes up to
60 t. Breakers,
grabs,
crusher,
crusher bucket :
the whole family is available, in useful sizes. - Production earthmoving Buckets of great width, tilting ditching bucket, skeleton bucket recorded at 1 to 50 t.
Beware of “mini” ranges on this class. One rotary mulcher
recorded stops at 15 t, a pruning saw and a saw trimmer at
8 t.
Fitting an undersized tool on a big machine
does not make it faster:
it destroys it.
What is checked before buying
- The system and the exact size of coupler Type S, CW, Klac, Morin, or direct pins. These systems are not interchangeable, and the size is read down the column, never across the row. See the couplers.
-
The total machine-plus-tool weight, for transport
It is the constraint specific to this class.
It is checked before the order, not on the day of delivery. - The flow available for a tool with a continuous function A screener or a crusher turns without interruption. See the 7 criteria.
-
Compatibility with the existing fleet
If you already have several machines, choosing the same coupler family allows
the tools to be shared.
It is the easiest saving to make, and the most often forgotten.
Have your machine checked.
Give us the make, the model and the coupler system.
If you have several
machines, say so:
the right choice is not always the one that suits a
single one of them.
