Silenced hydraulic breaker
part of the radiated noise no longer gets out.
Synthetic image.
A casing encloses the body of the hammer.
It acts on the noise the hammer itself makes:
not on that of the material breaking.
Other names for this tool: silenced breaker, sound-insulated hydraulic hammer, cased hammer, urban breaker, enclosed hammer.

What it is for
Right: an open breaker, whose bare body radiates its noise and takes the knocks.
What sets it apart:
it encloses the body, and protects it as much as it deadens it.
Computer-generated image.
The body of the hammer is enclosed in a casing, and held inside by flexible elements.
Part of the noise radiated by the body no longer gets out, and the whole is better protected from site knocks.
The striking principle, for its part, does not change.
Its ground is the town:
a block of flats' courtyard, a shopping street, the surroundings of a school or a health establishment.
The question there is no longer the output, but the acceptability of the site to those who live next to it and compliance with the hours the applicable order imposes.
The casing does not make the site silent, and it removes no vibration. It acts on the noise radiated by the hammer;
it acts neither on the noise of the concrete bursting, nor on what the neighbouring structure feels.
If the real constraint is vibration or a party wall, it is a grab you should look at, not a casing. See the concrete crusher.
On which machine?
They exist for machines from 0,8 to 14 t.
For example, on a 5 to 10 t excavator, the weight is generally from 260 to 670 kg.
It fits all couplers, via a mounting plate; the detail of the interface: we calculate it with you for your machine.
What the tool does
For example, on a 5 to 10 t excavator: impact energy from 450 to 1 300 J, blow rate from 400 to 1 000 blows/min.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
The type of circuit and the permissible back pressure on the return: we calculate them with you for your machine.
It generally needs from 18 to 100 l/min, at a pressure from 60 to 150 bar, depending on the size of the machine.
Figures taken from 10 models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Rounded values, taken from the models we track.
A range covers the whole family, class by class.
What is missing, and the value for your machine, are worked out with you.
Have your machine checked.
Describe the surroundings of the site and the hours imposed on you.
We will look at whether the casing is enough, or whether the demolition method has to change.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The exact nature of the constraint
Noise perceived by neighbours, vibration transmitted to a building, dust:
they are neither the same problems, nor the same tools. - 02 — The hours permitted They come from the order that governs the site, and they govern the output to be kept up within the window available.
-
03 — The weight and size added
The casing encloses the hammer:
it adds mass and volume at the end of the arm. -
04 — Access for maintenance
What is enclosed has to be taken apart to be maintained.
It is a workshop question, and it arises before the purchase.
What is checked before ordering
-
The written constraints of the site
An order, a specification, an undertaking given to the client:
what is written decides. -
The real neighbourhood
Housing, a sensitive establishment, shops:
to be described, not summed up in one word. - The load chart with the casing fitted It weighs more than a bare hammer of equivalent class.
- The maintenance planned Greasing and access to the wear parts, with the casing in place.
