Two hard-steel jaws, closed by a lever-linked cylinder, grip the wood from above; a toothed crown stops it slipping and a rotator orients it.
Depending on the model, the grapple hangs at the end of a hook extension, of an articulated arm that pivots to each side, or of a long neck extended by cylinder.

This is the tool for firewood, short-distance skidding, maintaining hedges and field edges, and loading trailers.
Mounted at the front, it stacks wood high, and some also carry a backfill blade to push branches or regrade the track.

A trunk held at the end of a long neck is a lever arm. The balance of the tractor is judged with the wood raised and turned to the side, ballast included.
The permissible load and opening depend on the model, not on a generic figure.

01 — The wood to take Trunks, short logs, branches, brash, loose firewood logs:
the opening and the shape of the jaws are chosen with the wood actually handled.
02 — The useful reach At the foot of the tractor, over a trailer side, beyond a ditch:
hook, articulated arm or long neck decide the reach.
03 — The machine and the hitch Three-point linkage, Euro hitch, loader, telehandler:
depending on the model, the same grapple goes from the rear of the tractor to the front of the loader.
04 — Rotation and options Rotator, self-centring articulation, backfill blade:
each added function needs one more hydraulic control.

05 Check

What is checked before ordering

The lifting capacity It is checked with the wood raised at the end of the neck, not with the grapple empty and folded.
The spool valves One or more depending on the model:
