Branch chipper for tractors
Synthetic image.
A rotor hitched to the rear of the tractor.
It turns branches, twigs and small trunks into chips,
at the roadside or in the yard.
Other names for this tool: branch shredder, green waste shredder, wood chipper.

What it is for
Right: a forestry mulching head leaves the shredded wood on the ground.
What sets it apart:
it produces chips, it does not leave the shredded wood on the ground like a forestry head.
Computer-generated image.
Mounted on the three-point linkage and driven by the power take-off, the chipper takes the branch in a hopper and reduces it to chips, which a swivelling discharge chute throws wherever you decide.
Depending on the model, feeding is by hand or by a hydraulic feed roller that pulls the branch in at a constant speed.
It is the tool for pruning and trimming: roadsides, hedges, orchards, farmyards.
The chips are reused as mulch or for heating; the forestry mulching head on an excavator, for its part, leaves everything on the ground.
A chipper is fed by hand, and that is where safety is at stake. A hydraulic feed roller holds the branch instead of the operator.
The permissible diameter depends on the model, not on a generic figure.
On which machine?
A branch chipper fits a farm tractor, not an excavator.
It hitches to the tractor's three-point linkage.
The tractor power: we calculate it with you for your machine.
What the tool does
It shreds branches, for maintaining green spaces.
Its weight: we calculate it with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It is driven by the tractor's power take-off.
The tractor's power and linkage must suit the model.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your equipment checked.
Describe the wood to be chipped and the tractor that will drive the chipper.
Specify what you will do with the chips.
- Your tractor Its power, in hp.
- The power take-off Its speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
- The hitch The three-point linkage category.
- The hydraulics The spool valves available.

What determines the choice
-
01 — What is being chipped Twigs, branches, small trunks:
the most common diameter sets the rotor and the hopper opening. -
02 — The tractor available Power at the power take-off, rear lift:
the chipper is chosen with the tractor that drives it. -
03 — Hand feeding or feed roller By hand for occasional use;
a hydraulic feed roller for long jobs, and to hold the branch instead of the operator. -
04 — What becomes of the chips Mulch, heating, removal:
the swivelling discharge chute and its ejection height are chosen with the destination of the chips.
What is checked before ordering
- The permissible diameter It is checked with the wood actually cut, not with the largest in the catalogue.
-
The power take-off Speed and direction of rotation:
we check that the tractor drives the rotor at the intended speed. -
The guards Hopper, discharge chute, emergency stop:
their presence and condition are checked before the first job. -
Knife sharpening A blunt knife tears instead of cutting:
rotor maintenance is planned from the moment of purchase.
