Coupling and adapting

Coupler conversion kit

The parts of a conversion kit laid out and sorted by family on a blue tarpaulin — mounting plates, brackets, pins, bushes, bolts and washers — with the quick coupler they adapt set behind them.
It is not a part, it is a complete set:
it moves a whole fleet of tools from one standard to another.

The set of parts that moves a fleet from one standard to another.
It is not a tool purchase:
it is a fleet decision.

Other names for this tool: adaptation kit, fleet conversion, bringing to standard.

01 Use

What it is for

On the left, the whole tool fleet converted to the same quick coupler standard. On the right, tools still on direct pin mounting, their new mounting plate set down beside them. Computer-generated image.

Left: the whole tool fleet converted to the same quick coupler standard.
Right: tools still on direct pin mounting, their new mounting plate set down beside them.
The order of the conversions is planned:
on no day must the machine be left without a tool.
Computer-generated image.

Going from direct mounting to a quick coupler, or from one standard to another, is not done tool by tool as needs arise:
it is planned, because during the transition the machine has to go on working.

The kit brings together the coupler, the mounting plates for each tool, the bolts, and where applicable the hydraulic adaptation.
The real deliverable is the order of operations as much as the parts.

The real cost of a conversion is not that of the coupler: it is that of the mounting plates multiplied by the number of tools, plus the workshop time.
A costing that counts only the coupler is a false costing.

02 Key technical data

On which machine?

They exist for machines from 1 to 75 t.
For example, on a 10 to 20 t excavator, the weight is generally from 175 to 955 kg.
You choose the target standard: Lehnhoff, type S in S40 or S50, Martin or Morin.
It comes as a lug kit, or as a bucket and breaker conversion kit.
Kits also exist for CW and Klac couplers, among others.

What the tool does

It converts your excavator's coupler to another standard.
For example, on a 10 to 20 t excavator: pin diameter from 50 to 90 mm, pin centres from 330 to 530 mm.

What is needed on the hydraulic side

The power source depends on the technology of the target coupler.
The flow and the pressure: we calculate them with you for your machine.

03 Your study

Have your machine checked.

Send us the list of your tools and the model of your machine.
We will give you a costing by batch and an order of operations, not the price of a coupler.

What we need to answer you
  • Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
  • The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
  • The coupler in place Its system and its class.
  • The work The use, and the material.

Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

04 Choice

What determines the choice

  • 01 — The complete inventory of the fleet Tool by tool, without forgetting any.
It is the real preliminary work.
  • 02 — The target standard Once chosen, it commits you for years.
The local availability of mounting plates counts as much as the technique.
  • 03 — The order of operations Which tools to convert first, so that the machine does not stop.
  • 04 — The fate of the old tools Some do not deserve to be converted.
Saying so is part of the advice.
05 Check

What is checked before ordering

  • The exhaustive list of the tools With, for each of them, its geometry and its condition.
  • The designation of the coupler aimed at Type and size.
  • The workshop time available It is often that, and not the supply, that fixes the timetable.
  • The machine's hydraulics If the target is hydraulic or automatic, they decide beforehand.
