Circular pruning saw
A model recorded is given for excavators of 2.8 to 8 t, with a 750 mm blade and a cutting capacity up to 250 mm. Synthetic image.
The saw cuts branches and trunks at a distance and at height, from the machine.
No
platform, no climber, no work on the ground under the branch to be cut.
Other names for this tool: hydraulic circular saw, forestry pruning saw, pruning disc, circular cutting head, disc shears.

What it is for
Right: a slowed blade tears the branch and leaves an untidy cut.
What sets it apart:
the blade must keep its speed throughout the cut — otherwise the cut is untidy.
Computer-generated image.
A carbide-toothed disc, hydraulically driven, cuts through the branch in a single
pass.
The cut is clean, which allows the tree to heal properly —
unlike mulching, which tears the fibres.
The main use is pruning at the roadside and at the edge of a plot:
clearing
a road envelope, opening up a power line, lifting a row of trees.
The
machine stays on the carriageway or the verge, the arm works at height.
Its real advantage is a safety advantage. Nobody is
under the branch at the moment of the cut, and the operator stays in the cab.
On a pruning job, that is what changes most compared with traditional
methods.
What the saw does not do
It does not treat a volume of vegetation:
it cuts piece by piece.
For a
grassed bank or scrub, the rotary mulcher is the tool.
It does not hold what it cuts.
The branch falls — which requires a
clear perimeter on the ground, and which distinguishes the saw from shears with a felling
head, which hold the piece cut and lay it down where it is wanted.
On which machine?
A pruning saw fits a mini-excavator from 2 to 4 t or an excavator from 4 to 7,5 t.
Its bracket adjusts from horizontal to vertical.
Its weight and the coupler: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
It is used for pruning, with a circular blade of 550 or 750 mm.
With the 550 mm blade, it cuts up to 150 mm in diameter.
With the 750 mm one, it cuts up to 250 mm.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It needs an auxiliary hydraulic circuit.
On a 2 to 4 t excavator, allow from 25 to 50 l/min, to be checked with you.
The pressure: we calculate it with you for your machine.

Have your machine checked.
Give us your excavator model, the diameter of the largest branches and the

the organisation.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.

Circular-saw hedge trimmer
Principle — several saws aligned on a bar, which cut a whole plane.
Use — it shapes a hedge or a row of trees; it is not meant for a large isolated branch. -
Pruning bar
Principle — a catalogue name rather than a tool, covering the chain bar, the aligned saws and the shear blade.
Use — its page helps to name the tool from the intended work: hedge face, branch removal or clearance envelope.
What determines the choice
-
01 — The permissible cutting diameter\
A model recorded cuts up to 250 mm.
It is the figure that decides whether the tool\ suits your trees, and it is checked on the largest, not on the average. -
02 — The height to be reached
It depends on the machine's arm as much as on the tool.
The weight at the end of the arm limits the useful reach at height. -
03 — The flow available
The blade must keep its speed throughout the cut.
A flow that is only just enough makes the disc slow down at the moment it attacks, and the cut becomes untidy. -
04 — The frequency of use
A seasonal job does not justify the same investment as annual
maintenance over a length.
Hiring may be the right answer — we say so when it is the case.
What is checked before ordering
-
The safety perimeter on the ground
The branch falls.
At the roadside, that requires signing and sometimes a shuttle system.
That point is organised before the job. -
The overhead services
A power line, a telephone line, street lighting.
Working nearby comes under a procedure, not a precaution. - The flow and the pressure available Measured on the machine, not read from a catalogue.
-
The protection of the cab
Cutting debris thrown up and branches falling:
the cab must be protected. -
The interface
Coupler type and size, or pin dimensions.
The tool is supplied with the matching plate.
