Coupling and adapting

OilQuick system

You want to change tools, hydraulic ones included, without leaving the cab.
Three points decide:
the number of tools to equip, how often you change, the hydraulics and control available on the excavator.
A photo of the end of the dipper arm and the list of your tools are enough to start.

Red coupler plate fitted to a tilting bucket resting on the ground; between the two pins, a block carries five hydraulic couplings in a row.
On the tool side, the coupling block sits between the two pins:
the hydraulics connect at the same time as the tool.
Suitable if every tool in the fleet carries the same plate; limit:
a tool without the equipment is connected by hand.

A fully automatic coupler:
the hydraulic connection is made with the locking.
The driver no longer has to get down to connect a hose, provided every tool carries the system's equipment.

Other names for this tool: OilQuick, OilQuick automatic coupler.

01 Use

What it is for

On the left, the coupler connects the hydraulics by itself, the tool change is done from the cab. On the right, a tool that is not equipped means the hoses have to be connected by hand. Computer-generated image.

Left: the coupler connects the hydraulics by itself, the tool change is done from the cab.
Right: a tool that is not equipped means the hoses have to be connected by hand.
What sets it apart:
the calculation is made on the number of tools and the frequency of changes, never on the purchase price.
Computer-generated image.
Two hydraulic half-couplers set side by side: the left one closed by a protective cap held on a strap, the right one open, its ring of balls visible.
The cap is not an accessory:
one dirty ball, and the automatic connection no longer takes place.
Synthetic image.
Quick coupler seen at three-quarters, off the machine
A quick coupler unit, off the machine:
the hook that takes the pin, the locks and their position indicator.
The image shows the locking principle, common to all standards;
it does not show the built-in hydraulic couplings of an automatic system.
Illustration based on an existing product.

It is the best-known representative of the fifth hitching technology:
the one that does away with handling hoses.
On a demolition or sorting site, where a grab, a bucket and a breaker alternate in the same day, the time saved is the driver's.

The reasoning to be followed is not that of a tool but that of a fleet:
every tool that is to be fitted must carry the matching equipment.

One tool not equipped, and the driver gets down again. That is why the decision is taken on the complete inventory of the fleet, never on a single tool.

02 What we check with you

On which machine?

They exist for machines from 1 to 132 t.
This excavator quick coupler system works with its own dedicated mounting plate.
The excavator class, the system size and the control in the cab: we calculate them with you for your machine.

What the tool does

Locking is hydraulic, controlled from the cab, with a locking indicator.
The pin centres, the pin diameter, the width and the weight of the coupler: we calculate them with you for your machine.
The fitting kit is charged separately.

What is needed on the hydraulic side

It works hydraulically, with a dedicated control, for locking and for the connected tools.
The locking and working pressures, and the through-flow: we calculate them with you for your machine.

03 Your study

Have your machine checked.

Tell us how many tools you have, which of them are hydraulic, and how many times a day you change them.

What we need to answer you
  • Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
  • The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
  • The coupler in place Its system and its class.
  • The work The use, and the material.

Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

04 Choice

What determines the choice

Each point says what changes the choice.
The values, we check them in your carrier's instructions and in the tool's.

  • 01 — The number of tools in the fleet It makes the real cost, and it makes the gain.
  • 02 — The frequency of changes Several a day:
    the calculation holds.
    A few a week:
    it does not.
  • 03 — The hydraulics available on the machine The system needs a control in the cab for its locking, and lines for the tools it connects:
their number and their flow are measured on the machine.
  • 04 — Safety on the ground Fewer operations around the machine.
On some sites, it is the decisive argument.
05 Check

What is checked before ordering

  • The inventory of the fleet, tool by tool Without forgetting any:
that is where the costing is decided.
  • The number and flow of the hydraulic lines Read off the machine.
  • Training the driver The movement changes.
  • Converting the existing tools It can be costed, and it is rarely nil.
