Stone windrower
Synthetic image.
Tines, a roller, and the stones lining up in a row.
It does not carry them away: it gathers them,
so that a second pass picks them up or crushes them.
Other names for this tool: stone aligner, stone row builder, aligner.

What it is for
Right: a stone picker then collects the windrow, as the windrower carries nothing away.
What sets it apart:
it gathers the stones, it does not carry them away.
Computer-generated image.
The soil stays put, the stones wait for the picker.
Synthetic video.
Depending on the model, vibrating tines or a toothed roller lift the surface stones out and move them aside,
until they form a windrow.
The tractor pulls the machine and drives it.
It is the first stage of stone clearing in two passes.
The windrow is then picked up with a stone picker, or crushed on the spot.
While the stone picker empties its hopper, the windrower can carry on working.
A windrow is not a clean field. The stones are gathered, not removed: they are still to be taken up.
The machine that takes them up is chosen at the same time as the windrower.
On which machine?
A stone windrower hitches to a farm tractor, as a towed unit, and not to an excavator.
It suits a tractor from 60 to 80 hp, to be checked with you.
What the tool does
It handles stones from 30 to 300 mm.
Its rotor carries from 84 to 202 teeth, depending on stone size.
Its working width ranges from 3,60 to 3,90 m in the mounted version, and from 3,20 to 4,80 m in the semi-mounted version.
It weighs from 1 730 to 3 220 kg depending on the model, to be checked with you.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It is driven by the tractor's power take-off, at 540 or 1 000 rpm depending on the model.
Depending on the model, the drive is mechanical, hydraulic or by a flange-mounted motor.

Have your equipment checked.
Describe the ground, the size of the stones and the tractor that will pull the machine.
Tell us what will take up the windrow:
stone picker, stone crusher, or nothing for now.
- Your tractor Its power, in hp.
- The power take-off Its speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
- The hitch The three-point linkage category.
- The hydraulics The spool valves available.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The ground and the size of the stones Surface stones, buried stones, stones that roll:
they are not the same machines.
The ground decides, not the catalogue. -
02 — The shape of the windrow Depending on the model, the windrow forms on one side or in the centre.
It has to suit the machine that will take it up. -
03 — The tractor available Power, linkage, power take-off, hydraulic flow:
the machine is chosen with the tractor that pulls it, not without it. -
04 — What follows on the job Picking up or crushing the windrow:
the next machine is chosen at the same time, not afterwards.
What is checked before ordering
-
The machine that will take up the windrow Stone picker or stone crusher:
without it, the stones are only moved. -
Wear of the tines or the roller They work in contact with the stones.
Their condition and replacement are checked before choosing. -
The tractor Hitch, linkage, power take-off or hydraulics:
we check that the tractor carries and drives the machine. - Safety around the machine Area kept clear, machine stopped before any intervention.
