Wear parts

Rubber tracks

Lug pattern of two rubber tracks side by side, seen close up: transverse bars and raised blocks
The profile of the lugs decides the use:
chevron for soil, straight bars for hard ground.
Illustration based on an existing product.

They carry the machine and they wear out in silence.
You do not change them when they break:
you change them before, because a track that comes off stops the job.

Other names for this part: rubber track, running belt, rubber undercarriage, mini-excavator track.

01 Use

What it is for

On the left, lugs suited to the finished surface, and the new asphalt stays intact. On the right, an aggressive tread turning on asphalt wears quickly and marks it. Computer-generated image.

What sets them apart:
the size is written with three numbers — pad width, pitch, number of links.

The black rubber side of a track, its rubber texture visible, carrying the three numbers moulded in relief: 300, 52.5 and 80.
Those three numbers are enough to order:
pad width, pitch, and number of links.

A rubber track carries the machine, moves it forward, and protects the ground.
It is that last point that often decides its use:
on new asphalt, a pavement, a finished slab, steel marks and rubber does not.

It wears through the pad, through the internal cables, and through the edges.
The three do not wear at the same rate, and it is the most advanced of the three that sets the deadline.

A track coming off is almost never a surprise: it follows a badly set tension, a seized roller, or a track fitted the wrong way round.
A track that comes off twice in the same month does not call for a new track, it calls for someone to look at the undercarriage.

02 Key technical data

On which machine?

A rubber track fits machines from micro-excavators up to 12 t.
The size of the track already fitted is what decides.
It is fitted as an original-equipment replacement, as an undercarriage part.

What the tool does

Its width ranges from 150 to 500 mm, for a pitch of 47 to 109 mm.
For tracks from 180 to 200 mm, the pitch is 60 or 72 mm.
It has from 30 to 98 links depending on the size.
Individually, a 180 × 72 × 35 track weighs 23 kg, and a 400 × 72,5 × 72 weighs 277 kg.
In 485 × 92 × 72, it weighs 576 kg.

What is needed on the hydraulic side

No power source is needed: it is a part of the machine.

03 Your study

Have your machine checked.

Tell us your machine model and the three numbers read on the track fitted.
If you cannot find them, a photograph of the side of the track is enough.

What we need to answer you
  • Your machine Its exact make and model.
  • What is fitted What equips the machine today.
  • The work What the machine is used for.

Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

04 Choice

What determines the choice

  • 01 — The exact size Three numbers, never two:
pad width, pitch, number of links.
They are written on the side of the track fitted.
  • 02 — The profile of the lugs Chevron for soil, straight bars for hard ground, flat for a finished surface.
An aggressive profile on asphalt wears quickly and marks it.
  • 03 — The internal structure Continuous cables or steel links:
one takes torsion better, the other abrasion.
  • 04 — The real use of the machine An excavator that slews a great deal on the spot wears the edges.
An excavator that travels wears the pads.
It is not the same track that is needed.
05 Check

What is checked before ordering

  • Record the three numbers on the track fitted — width, pitch, links.
Without them, no order is safe.
  • Measure the remaining lug height and compare it with a new track:
it is the only wear that can be put in figures simply.
  • Look at the rollers and the sprocket before ordering.
A new track on a worn undercarriage wears twice as fast.
  • Check the tension after fitting, and again after a few hours:
    a new track slackens.
