Hydraulic rotator
the grip turns, the machine does not move.

Continuous rotation, without the tilt.
It is what is found under a grapple or a sorting grab, where orientation matters more than slope.
Other names for this tool: rotator, rotation head, continuous rotation, rotation motor.

What it is for
On a grapple, a sorting grab or a clamshell bucket, the question is never the slope:
it is the orientation of the grip.
A rotator makes it possible to grip a load at any angle without moving the machine.
Many gripping tools are supplied with a built-in rotator.
It also exists as a separate element, to give the function to a tool that does not have it.
Continuous rotation and limited rotation are not the same thing. A limited-rotation device will hit a stop at some point, and on a sorting station that is felt every day.
It is a point to check beforehand, not to discover afterwards.
Right: without rotation, the machine has to manoeuvre to line up with the piece.
It is inserted between the coupler and the tool, and the hydraulic circuit goes through it.
Continuous or limited:
on a sorting station, the stop is felt every day.

On which machine?
They exist for machines from 1 to 55 t.
For example, on a 5 to 10 t excavator, the weight is generally from 78 to 110 kg.
It fits between the machine and the tool, with an interface on each side.
What the tool does
It couples the tool and rotates it.
For example, on a 5 to 10 t excavator: torque from 1 350 to 3 500 N·m.
It is available as a Martin coupler with rotation, semi-automatic or hydraulic, and as a piston rotator for grapples.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
The pressure: we calculate it with you for your machine.
It generally needs from 10 to 100 l/min, at a pressure from 175 to 320 bar, depending on the size of the machine.
Figures taken from 14 models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your machine checked.
Tell us which tool has to turn, what it handles, and how many hydraulic lines your machine has.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.

What determines the choice
-
01 — Continuous or limited rotation
The first never hits a stop;
the second costs less. -
02 — Integration with the tool
A built-in rotator or an added element:
the first is more compact, the second more versatile. -
03 — The forces taken
A rotator works in torque and in bending.
The sizing is done on the tool and on the load, not on the tonnage alone. - 04 — The hydraulic line available A double-acting circuit is necessary, in addition to that of the tool.
What is checked before ordering
- The number of lines available The tool and the rotator do not share the same one.
- The weight added It is inserted, so it adds at the end of the arm.
-
The upper and lower interfaces
On the coupler side and on the tool side:
they are not the same. -
The real use
Sorting, scrap, forestry:
the loadings have nothing in common.
