Hydraulic magnet
Synthetic image.
It picks up metal without gripping it.
The problem is not the hitching:
it is finding, on the machine, what will feed it.
Other names for this tool: lifting magnet, excavator-mounted electromagnet, magnetic plate, scrap magnet.

What it is for
Right: on reinforced concrete, the embedded bars barely come up.
What sets it apart:
producing current on board decides feasibility, before the weight and before the coupler.

One swing to the skip, and everything lets go at once.
Synthetic video.
A magnet takes up loose scrap, offcuts, steel scattered through rubble — everything no grab picks up cleanly.
It works by sweeping:
you go down, you magnetise, you lift, you release above the container.
On a demolition site, it recovers the reinforcement mixed with the spoil and leaves a clean fill.
In a yard, it loads in bulk.
It does not sort the material:
it takes only what is magnetic, and that is already a sort.
A magnet is not plugged in like a breaker. It needs current, that current has to be produced on board, and that production is sized together with the magnet:
a generator driven by the machine's hydraulics, or a dedicated power pack.
A carrier that has none of this will not take a magnet by adding a hose. See the on-board power pack.
On which machine?
A hydraulic magnet fits medium and large class excavators.
The exact tonnage of the excavator: we calculate it with you for your machine.
It attaches to all couplers, via a mounting plate.
It can be suspended by a three-leg chain and a lifting ring, or fixed-mounted.
What the tool does
It is a tool for recycling and recovering.
Depending on the model, it weighs from 430 to 3 700 kg, to be checked with you.
The magnet diameter ranges from 720 to 1 500 mm.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
A generator, driven by the auxiliary circuit, produces the current for the magnet.
It needs from 18 to 70 l/min, at 60 to 200 bar depending on the model, to be checked with you.
Figures taken from our models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your machine checked.
Tell us which machine would carry the magnet and what it has in the way of on-board energy production.
Then describe the scrap being taken up:
that is the order in which the question is resolved.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The type of magnet
Permanently powered or switchable:
they raise neither the same question of energy, nor the same question of safety. -
02 — The material taken up
Flat sheet, tangled offcuts, steel embedded in concrete:
the contact surface decides everything. - 03 — Producing current on board This is the point that makes the installation possible or impossible, before the weight and before the coupler.
- 04 — The duty cycle A magnet that runs all day is not sized like a stand-by magnet.
What is checked before ordering
- What the machine can produce The nature of the energy available on board, and where it comes from.
- The material and its shape They govern what the magnet will actually hold.
- What happens when the power is cut Where the load falls when the supply stops.
- The load chart and the reach Magnet loaded, arm extended, above the container.
