Bale unroller
Synthetic image.
A round bale that turns or moves forward.
It unrolls or is shredded,
and falls into the trough or onto the bedding, without a fork.
Other names for this tool: bale unwinder, bale feeder, bale distributor, bale shredder.

What it is for
Right: moving-floor version, where a roller teases out the bale and meters the output.
What sets it apart:
the bale is unrolled or milled on the spot, and the forage falls in an even strip along the trough.

The simplest unroller spears the round bale on tines and turns it with a hydraulic motor: the forage unrolls on the ground, to the right or to the left.
Others place the bale on a moving floor that pushes it against a shredding roller or a rotor, and a guide comb meters the forage at the outlet.
This is the tool for feeding in the barn, bedding the lying areas and distributing in the pasture.
A single person picks up the bale, carries it and distributes it, without a fork.
A turning shredding roller or rotor does not forgive. Net and film are removed with the drive stopped, and nobody approaches the outlet during distribution.
The bale size accepted depends on the model, not on a generic figure.
On which machine?
It fits on a tractor, a farm loader or a telehandler, not on an excavator.
Depending on the model, it is hitched to the three-point linkage, to a Euro hitch, or to a loader or telehandler.
The tractor power, the hitch category, the loader hitch and the lifting capacity: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
It unrolls bales; depending on the model, it also has a milling rotor.
The working width and the weight of the unroller: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
Depending on the model, it is driven hydraulically, or by the power take-off for the rotor.
The power take-off speed, the spool valves and the third function on the loader: we calculate them with you for your machine.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.
Have your equipment checked.
Describe your bales, what they contain, and the machine that will distribute them.
Specify whether the forage goes to the trough or onto the bedding.
- On a tractor Its power in hp, and the power take-off speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
- The tractor hitch The three-point linkage category, and the spool valves available.
- On a loader Its hitch, Euro or another, and its lifting capacity.
- The 3rd function Present or not.
- The work The use.

What determines the choice
-
01 — Unroll or shred Speared bale that turns, or bale pushed against a roller or a rotor:
fine metering and dense silage call for a shredder. -
02 — The forage and the use Grass silage, hay, straw, for the trough or for bedding:
the knives and the comb are chosen with what is distributed. -
03 — The distribution side Right, left, or both sides:
the direction of the alleys and the position of the trough decide. -
04 — The machine and the hitch Three-point linkage, Euro hitch, loader, telehandler, trailed chassis:
a heavy unroller is better rolling on its own wheels than weighing on the linkage.
What is checked before ordering
- The lifting capacity It is checked with the heaviest bale loaded and raised, not empty.
-
The hydraulics Oil flow, double-acting spool valves, flow limiter:
we check that the machine turns the moving floor and the roller at the intended speed. -
Passage through the building Alley width, door height:
we check that the equipped machine can move along the trough. -
The guards Cover, shaft guard, distribution stop:
we check that they are in place before each use.
