Offset boom
it is the line of the trench that shifts, not the machine.
Synthetic image.
It shifts the line of the trench to the side.
The machine stays in line with the track:
it is the equipment that goes to sit against the wall.
Other names for this tool: variable-offset boom, offset arm, swing boom, side offset.

- Depending on the machine; it takes the coupler at its end

What it is for
Right: without an offset, the machine sits at an angle and blocks the way.
What sets it apart:
its value is measured by the number of times you do not have the room to sit square to the work.
Computer-generated image.
Digging along a wall, a fence or a kerb normally means slewing the upperstructure and finding room behind.
The offset makes it possible to keep the machine parallel to the structure and to shift only the trench, which changes everything in a garden or between two buildings.
On small machines, the offset is worked from the cab and corrected while working.
It is a piece of equipment for constrained access:
its value is measured by the number of times you do not have the room to sit square to the work.
The offset is not free where stability is concerned. Working offset to one side takes the load out of the machine's axis, and the behaviour is no longer that of working in line.
This is true in particular near an open excavation, where the edge may give way before the machine does.
On which machine?
An offset boom mainly fits mini-excavators and small classes.
Fitted to suit the machine, in place of the original boom, the offset boom takes the coupler at its end.
The exact class and the mounting: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
This equipment lets you work offset.
The reach at ground level, the digging depth and the weight of the boom: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
The offset needs a hydraulic circuit.
The maximum pressure of this circuit: we calculate it with you for your machine.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.
Have your machine checked.
Describe the structure to be followed and the room you have on each side.
Tell us the machine you have too:
not every carrier lends itself to an offset.
- Your machine Its exact make and model.
- What is fitted What equips the machine today.
- The work What the machine is used for.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The real constraint on access
An offset is justified by what stops you sitting square to the work:
a wall, a fence, traffic, a tree. -
02 — Fixed or variable offset
A variable offset is corrected while working;
a fixed offset is endured. - 03 — What the machine loses elsewhere Offset equipment has neither the geometry nor the strength of straight equipment.
- 04 — The tools that will go on the end A heavy tool and a side offset do not go well together.
What is checked before ordering
-
The real layout of the worksite
Photographed if possible:
it is the room available that decides. - The hydraulic line that controls the offset Either it exists or it has to be created.
- The load chart in the offset position Different from the load chart in line.
- The behaviour at the edge of an excavation It is dealt with as a question of earthworks, not of equipment.
