Star screening bucket
what passes between them is graded, the rest moves on.

Shafts fitted with rubber stars turn in opposite directions.
Where a
grid clogs, the stars clean themselves — it is the tool for wet
soil.
Other names for this tool: disc screening bucket, star screen, star separating bucket, rotor screening bucket, star screen.

What it is for
Right: the conventional grid blocks as soon as the soil is wet.
What sets it apart:
the whole difference lies in the clogging — where a grid blocks, the stars clean themselves.
Computer-generated image.
The bottom of the bucket is made up of parallel shafts carrying stars.
As they
turn, they move the material forward and let what passes between them fall.
The oversize comes out at the front, the passing fraction falls below.
Topsoil, compost, clay spoil, ditch silt:
everything that is
damp, sticky or fibrous.
That is precisely what the other screens cannot
handle.
The whole difference lies in the clogging. A grid
blocks as soon as the soil is damp, and you have to stop to clear it.
The
stars, turning against one another, clean themselves continuously.
On a
soil at 20% moisture, one works and the other does not.
On which machine?
They exist for machines from 1,8 to 50 t.
For example, on an excavator over 20 t, the weight is generally from 1 420 to 4 100 kg.
A star screening bucket is designed for mini-excavators.

What the tool does
It is a tool for screening, recycling and recovering.
For example, for a width of 1 500 mm: capacity from 550 to 2 250 l, weight from 740 to 2 500 kg.
The bucket volume and its weight: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It needs a continuous hydraulic function.
It generally needs from 25 to 280 l/min, at a pressure from 200 to 320 bar, depending on the size of the machine.

Figures taken from 30 models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.
Have your machine checked.
Give us your excavator model, the material to be screened and the particle size
aimed at.
Above all, tell us in what season you work:
it is the moisture that
separates the two families of screeners.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

That is what makes it possible to screen damp soil where a grid would block.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The spacing between the stars
It is what fixes the particle size of the passing fraction.
On some models it is adjusted by changing the speed of the shafts, on others the stars have to be changed.
The difference matters if you handle several materials. -
02 — The real nature of the material
The stars excel on the damp and the fibrous.
On dry, stony material or crushed concrete, a screening bucket in its classic form does better and costs less. -
03 — The flow available, continuously
The shafts turn throughout the cycle.
It is a tool with a continuous function, which makes demands on the hydraulics without interruption. -
04 — The wear of the stars
They are the consumable parts.
Whether they can be replaced one by one, without taking the shaft out, decides what a season costs.
It is not a variant of the screening bucket, it is another tool.
The rotary screener is made for dry mineral material; the star screener for
organic and damp material.
Choosing on the name rather than on the material is
the most frequent mistake in this family.
What is checked before ordering
- The auxiliary line and its continuous flow First eliminating criterion. See the 7 criteria.
-
The moisture and the nature of the material
It is the question to be answered before all the others.
The same soil in February and in August does not call for the same tool. - The operating weight, bucket full A screener works loaded, and damp material is heavy.
-
The interface
Coupler type and size, or pin dimensions.
The tool is supplied with the matching plate — see the couplers.
