Hammers and wear parts for slow-speed shredders and screens
Behind, the slow-speed shredder and the screen that take them.
Computer-generated image.
The parts that wear in a green waste, wood or biomass shredder, and in the screen that follows it.
Hammers, teeth, grates, counter-knives, stars:
everything that touches the material is replaced.
In high-strength steel, with carbide where it strikes.
Other names for these parts: slow-speed shredder hammer, shredder tooth, hammer holder, sizing grate, counter-knife, screen star, rotor shim and spacer, green waste shredder wear part, shredder grate, shredder counter-knife, hammer pin, bushing, sleeve, retaining pin.

What they are for
A green waste or wood shredder reduces the material to a sized product:
mulch, compost, wood fuel.
The screen that follows it separates the fine from the coarse.
In both machines, everything that touches the material wears:
hammers, teeth, grates, counter-knives, stars.
A worn part cannot always be heard.
The shredder runs as before, but the output size drifts, consumption rises and throughput falls.
Parts are replaced as a set, at fixed intervals, and the machine delivers the expected product.
The rotor: hammers, teeth and holders
On a slow-speed shredder, teeth bolted to the rotor tear the material against a counter comb.
On a high-speed shredder, hammers swinging free on pins strike it against a grate.
The holders and the pins wear with them and are changed at the same time.
The sizing grate and the counter-knife
The grate lets the material through at the required size; its holes widen with wear and the product gets coarser.
The counter-knife holds the material during the cut:
when it is blunt, the shredder consumes more for the same work.
The screen: stars and discs
On a star screen, rows of polyurethane or steel stars sort the material by size.
They wear at the tips and are changed by row or by shaft.
For which machines
We supply these parts for the slow-speed shredders, high-speed shredders and screens of the major brands:
Doppstadt, Komptech, Hammel, Arjes, Willibald, Jenz, Lindner, Vermeer, Morbark, Pronar, Neuenhauser, Terex Ecotec, and for others from a photo and the dimensions of the part.
Standard for the common models; made to measure from the part in place for the others.
A worn grate changes the product, not the noise. The shredder runs as before, but the output size drifts.
The grate holes and the height of the hammers are checked at fixed intervals, not when the customer complains about the product.
On which machine?
These parts fit on the rotor, the grate or the screen shafts of slow-speed shredders, high-speed shredders and screens, stationary or mobile.
The model is read on the machine plate; the part is identified from the part in place, with its dimensions.
What the tool does
Hammers, teeth and counter-knives in high-strength steel, hard-faced or fitted with tungsten carbide inserts depending on the material shredded.
Sizing grates with round or square holes, at the size of the required product.
Screen stars in polyurethane or steel, depending on the material sorted.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
Fitted on the rotor, the grate or the screen shaft, they need no connection.
References taken from the machines we track.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your shredder or your screen checked.
Send a photo of the machine plate and a photo of the part in place, with its main dimensions.
We identify the reference, or we have the part made from the one in place.

- The part in place Photo, main dimensions; number of holes and hole pitch for a grate.
- The number Hammers or teeth per rotor, stars per shaft, grates per machine.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The machine model
Slow-speed shredder, high-speed shredder, screen:
each machine has its own parts and its own dimensions. -
02 — Standard or made to measure
The common models have their parts in stock;
for the others, the part is made from the one in place. -
03 — Steel or carbide
Carbide is justified in dirty wood, stumps and industrial waste;
steel is enough for green waste. -
04 — The required size
The grate is chosen on the size of the finished product:
mulch, compost, wood fuel. -
05 — Wear by set
Hammers, holders and pins wear together:
they are changed together.
What is checked before ordering
- The machine plate Make, model, year, serial number.
- The dimensions of the part Taken on the part in place, with a vernier caliper.
-
The condition of the rotor
Cracked holders, ovalised pins:
to be repaired before fitting the new set. - The output size The diameter of the grate holes and the size of the product expected.
