Bin tippers and bin lifters for wheeled bins

An electro-hydraulic bin lifter with a yellow mesh cage, in front of a compactor, has tipped a grey 1 100 litre wheeled bin which is emptying into the hatch. Synthetic image.
The bin is taken by its trunnions, lifted and tipped into the compactor.
The operator stays behind the guard.

Emptying a wheeled bin into a skip by hand exposes people to falling loads and back injuries.
The tipper grips the bin, lifts it and empties it:
the operator stays at a distance, and the movement is the same for every bin.

Other names for this tool: bin tipper, bin tilter, bin lifter, bin emptier, wheelie bin tipper, wheelie bin lifter, container tipper.

01 Use

What they are for

Emptying a wheeled bin into a skip by hand exposes people to falling loads and back injuries.
The tipper grips the bin, lifts it and empties it:
the operator stays at a distance, and the movement is the same for every bin.

Four solutions exist, depending on the bin, the weight to lift, the power available and the machine already on site.

The fork-mounted tipper for forklift trucks

It slides onto the forks and locks onto the bin's side trunnions when the forks are raised; tipping is operated by a rope from the driver's seat.
4-wheel bins from 660 to 1 100 l with lid, fitted with trunnions.
Payload 450 kg.
It weighs 75 kg.
No power to add on the forklift:
neither electricity nor hydraulics.
For sites that already have a forklift truck; the emptying height is that of the forklift.

The self-contained battery-powered bin lifter, 2-wheel bins

2-wheel wheeled bins from 120 to 240 l.
Load of 120 kg at most, depending on the material tipped.
Emptying height up to 2 100 mm.
Sealed battery, recharged from a 220 V single-phase socket; electronic control; 20-second cycle.
On 200 mm wheels, for flat ground such as asphalt; weight 200 kg; safety guard.
For sites with no power socket at the emptying point, and for trials.

The electro-hydraulic bin lifter, 4-wheel bins from 660 to 1 000 l

4-wheel bins to NF EN 840, taken by their trunnions.
Lifting force 350 kg.
1,5 kW motor, 380 V three-phase; plug-in connection.
Two-hand hold-to-run controls; load-holding valves in case a hose bursts.
Installed on a dock or at ground level, front-on or side-on.
Options:
mounting on wheels, mesh cage with safety door, clamp grip for 2- and 4-wheel bins, bin weighing with access control.

The mobile bin lifter for emptying into skips

Containers of 600, 770 or 1 100 l, taken by their side trunnions.
Emptying height up to 2,30 m:
suited to skips.
On four wheels, to go from one skip to the next.
Electrically controlled hydraulics, 380 V, 160 bar.
Footprint 1 700 × 2 246 mm; height 2 120 mm lowered, 3 848 mm raised.

The weight of a full bin decides the solution. The battery unit carries 120 kg, the electro-hydraulic one 350 kg, the fork-mounted tipper 450 kg.
A 1 100 l bin of rubble is not emptied with the same unit as a bin of cardboard.

02 Key technical data

On which machine?

The fork-mounted tipper fits on the forks of a forklift truck, with nothing added to the forklift.
The three other solutions have no carrier machine:
they are self-contained, fixed or on wheels.
They exist for bins from 120 to 1 100 l.

What the tool does

They grip the bin by its trunnions, or by clamping, lift it and tip it.
For example, for a 2-wheel bin from 120 to 240 l:
a load of 120 kg and an emptying height of 2 100 mm.
For a 4-wheel bin from 660 to 1 100 l:
from 350 to 450 kg of load, and up to 2,30 m of emptying height.

What is needed on the hydraulic side

The fork-mounted tipper needs no power.
The battery model recharges from a 220 V single-phase socket.
The electro-hydraulic models need 380 V three-phase, with a 1,5 to 3 kW motor and a pressure of 160 bar.

03 Your study

Have your emptying station checked.

Send a photo of a bin from the side, and tell us where it is emptied.
We choose with you between the fork-mounted tipper, the battery unit, the fixed station and the mobile unit.

What we need to answer you
  • The bin 2 or 4 wheels, its volume, and its weight when full.
  • Where it is emptied Skip, compactor or another bin:
    the height to clear.
  • The power available None, 220 V or 380 V three-phase at the emptying point.
  • The machine on site A forklift truck already on site makes the fork-mounted tipper the most economical.
  • The number of units And the delivery address.

Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

04 Choice

What determines the choice

  • 01 — The bin 2 or 4 wheels, its volume, and whether it has standard trunnions:
it is what rules out some solutions from the start.
  • 02 — The weight of a full bin It decides between battery, 120 kg, and electro-hydraulic, 350 kg.
  • 03 — Where it is emptied Skip, compactor, another bin:
the height to clear is measured before choosing.
  • 04 — The power available None, 220 V or 380 V three-phase at the emptying point.
  • 05 — Fixed station or moved around A single emptying point, or several skips on a site:
the mobile unit on wheels goes from one to the next.
  • 06 — The machine on site A forklift truck already on site makes the fork-mounted tipper the most economical.
05 Check

What is checked before ordering

  • The bin's trunnions They must be to the standard and in good condition:
they are what the bin is held by.
  • The height of the skip It is measured at the top edge:
the mobile unit lifts to 2,30 m, no higher.
  • The power socket 220 V single-phase or 380 V three-phase, within reach of the emptying station.
  • The ground Flat and hard for the units on wheels; anchoring for the fixed station.
