Forestry mulching head
no windrow, no lorry, no tip.
Synthetic image.
A heavy rotor, cutting tools, and wood that becomes chip.
What is mulched stays on the ground:
there is no windrow, no lorry, no tip.
Other names for this tool: forestry mulcher, hammer mulcher, mulching head, mulcher, heavy vegetation mulcher.

What it is for
Right: after a felling, the windrow has to be loaded and then hauled away by lorry.
What sets it apart:
unlike a felling, there is no product to take out.
Computer-generated image.
The rotor turns continuously and reduces the vegetation by shattering, stem after stem.
Unlike a felling, there is no product to take out:
the material falls back as chip, settles and decomposes on the spot.
It is the tool for reclaiming scrub, for heavy clearing, for opening a corridor, for cleaning up after a felling.
Fitted on an excavator rather than on a tool carrier, it reaches what a rolling machine cannot approach:
a cross slope, the foot of a bank, a wood edge, the back of a crash barrier.
A mulcher throws things, and it throws what it finds. A stone, a piece of fence, a buried piece of waste come out at the speed of the rotor.
At the roadside, near residents or parked vehicles, the perimeter to be kept and the protection of the machine are part of the job, not options. See the cab protection.
On which machine?
A forestry mulching head fits a mini-excavator from 2,8 to 5 t or an excavator from 5 to 8 t.
Its hitch is fixed and central.
What the tool does
It is used for forestry mulching.
Its working width is 830 mm, with blades 10 mm thick.
It cuts up to 10 cm in diameter.
Its weight: we calculate it with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It connects to the breaker line, and the hoses are supplied.
It works with continuous function.
The flow and pressure: we calculate them with you for your machine.
Figures taken from our models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your machine checked.
Describe the cover to be treated, the area and the access, and tell us what borders the zone:
a road, housing, fences.
Say also the window during which you are allowed to work.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

Rotary mulcher and flail mower
Principle — a flail or hammer rotor, for lighter vegetation.
Use — it is the tool for banks and verges, where grass and stalks predominate. -
Arm-mounted flail mower
Principle — an offset arm that gives the tractor the side reach it lacks.
Use — it maintains a verge over a long run, moving without stopping.
What determines the choice
-
01 — The wood actually present
Grass and brambles, regrowth, coppice, formed trees:
they are not the same cutting tools nor the same machine. -
02 — The cutting tools, fixed or moving
The hinged hammer takes stone better;
the fixed tool gives a finer mulch.
The ground decides, not the catalogue. -
03 — The hydraulics available at the end of the dipper arm
A rotor turns all day long:
it is a continuous need, not a peak of force. -
04 — The weight at the end of the arm
Mulching is often done with the arm extended, on a cross slope, machine at full stretch.
It is the unfavourable case, and it is the one to check.
What is checked before ordering
-
The nature and density of the cover
Described, not estimated:
it is the point that governs the tool and the machine. -
The cooling of the circuit
Continuous work heats the oil.
On a long summer job, that point comes before all the others. -
The protection of the machine and of the site
Glazing, rams, exposed hoses;
and the perimeter kept around the mulched area. -
The period of working
There are periods when work on vegetation is not done:
nesting, local orders, the client's specification.
We do not settle them for you.
