Additional counterweight
it is a modification of the machine.
Synthetic image.
It restores at the rear what the lengthening has moved forward.
It is not an attachment part:
it is a modification of the machine.
Other names for this tool: additional ballast, balancing mass, add-on counterweight, extra ballast.

What it is for
Right: without it, the same load at reach lifts the rear of the machine.
What sets it apart:
a counterweight that does not answer an identified imbalance is nothing but extra mass.
Computer-generated image.
An excavator is a balance:
the equipment and the load on one side, the mass of the upperstructure and the counterweight on the other.
Anything that lengthens or adds weight at the front moves the centre of gravity, and it is that balance the counterweight comes to restore.
It is therefore found where the equipment has been lengthened, or where heavy tools work at a large reach.
It adds no capacity:
it only makes usable a capacity that lengthening had put out of reach.
Adding counterweight changes the machine's type approval and its behaviour. The total mass changes, the distribution changes, the forces on the chassis and the slew ring change, and the behaviour in transport too.
It can engage the liability of whoever fits it.
It is not improvised, it is not bodged together:
it is settled with the machine's manufacturer, with documents to support it. Talk to us about it beforehand.
On which machine?
An additional counterweight applies to medium and large machines.
It is mounted on the machine's structure.
The exact class and the fixing points: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
It is added to the machine's original counterweight.
Its weight and its overall dimensions: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It needs no hydraulic connection.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.
Have your machine checked.
Tell us which machine, with what equipment, and what made you think of ballast.
If the answer is that a manufacturer has to be consulted, we will say so rather than sell you a mass.
- Your machine Its exact make and model.
- What is fitted What equips the machine today.
- The work What the machine is used for.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

What determines the choice
- 01 — The reason for the need A counterweight that does not answer an identified imbalance is nothing but extra mass.
-
02 — What the manufacturer says
It is the first criterion, and sometimes the only one:
some machines accept it, others do not. - 03 — Whether it is removable A mass that is taken off for transport and put back to work raises its own organisational questions.
- 04 — The real use of the machine Ballast that is useful when digging can become a nuisance everywhere else.
What is checked before ordering
- The exact configuration of the machine Equipment, tools, and what has already been modified.
- The manufacturer's agreement and documentation Nothing is fitted without them.
- The total mass and the conditions of transport A re-ballasted machine is not transported as before.
- The consequences for inspections and insurance They are checked with the right people, beforehand, not afterwards.
