Silage spreader
Synthetic image.
One or two discs that turn flat.
They spread the unloaded grass over the silo
in thin layers, easy to compact.
Other names for this tool: silage distributor, silo spreader, clamp grass spreader, disc spreader.

What it is for
Right: pushed with a blade, the grass forms a thick heap that is hard to compact.
What sets it apart:
the disc throws the forage to the side, in a fan, instead of pushing it into a heap.
Computer-generated image.
Discs, driven by the power take-off through a reinforced angle gearbox, turn flat just above the forage and throw it to the side.
Depending on the model, a single disc spreads to one side only, two discs swivelled by cylinder spread to the left as well as to the right, and side flaps hold back the throw near the walls.
This is the tool of the grass silage job, when the trailers unload faster than a blade can spread.
It prepares thin, even layers, which the roller or the tractor then compacts without leaving air pockets.
A turning disc throws everything it touches. Nobody stands in the throwing zone, nor at the foot of the silo, during work.
The spreading width depends on the model and the forage, not on a generic figure.
On which machine?
A silage spreader fits a tractor, not an excavator.
It hitches to the front or rear three-point linkage, or via a hitch triangle, depending on the model.
The tractor power and the linkage category: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
It is used to spread silage.
The working width and the weight: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It is driven by the tractor's power take-off, via a drive shaft.
Depending on the model, it is swivelled hydraulically.
The power take-off speed and the number of spool valves: we calculate them with you for your machine.

Have your equipment checked.
Describe the silo, the ensiled forage and the tractor that will carry the spreader.
Specify whether it works at the front or at the rear.
- Your tractor Its power, in hp.
- The power take-off Its speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
- The hitch The three-point linkage category.
- The hydraulics The spool valves available.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The forage Chopped grass, wilted grass, maize:
the spreader is above all the tool for grass, which compacts poorly when left in a heap. -
02 — One side or both One disc spreading to one side, two swivelling discs:
the width of the silo and the direction of the passes decide. -
03 — Front or rear Front or rear linkage:
mounted at the front, it leaves the rear of the tractor free for a roller. -
04 — The silo walls Folding or retractable flaps:
they hold back the throw along the walls and at the edge of the sheet.
What is checked before ordering
-
The power take-off Speed and direction of rotation:
we check that they are those of the shaft and the angle gearbox. -
The hitch Triangle, front or rear linkage:
we check that the coupling is that of the tractor. -
The hydraulics One double-acting spool valve swivels the discs, depending on the model:
we check that the tractor controls it. -
Safety around the silo Throwing zone, shaft guard:
we check that they are in place before each job.
