Silage compaction roller and silage pusher
Synthetic image.
Steel rings that roll over the silo,
a blade that spreads the forage in layers,
to drive out the air and preserve the silage.
Other names for this tool: silo roller, compaction roller, silage packer, silo rake, silo blade, rotor distributor.

What they are for
Right: the rotor rake spreads the unloaded forage without undoing the compaction.
What sets them apart:
the rings concentrate the weight on a line and compact in depth, the rotor spreads without undoing what is already compacted.
Computer-generated image.
The roller carries welded steel rings that concentrate the weight on a narrow line and compact the forage in depth.
Depending on the model, its body and frame fill with water to adjust the ballast, side rollers guide it along the wall, and a side compactor takes care of the edge of the silo.
The rotor pusher, hitched to the tractor, pushes the grass or maize unloaded by the trailers and spreads it in even layers, without undoing what is already compacted.
This is the job of the bunker silo or the heap silo, where each poorly compacted layer keeps the air that will make the silage heat.
A ballasted tractor on the side of a silo is a load that can slide. Balance is judged on the actual silo, near the edges and on the slope, not on the flat ground of the yard.
The useful ballast depends on the tractor and the model, not on a generic figure.
On which machine?
They fit a tractor, not an excavator.
Depending on the model, they hitch to the three-point linkage, at the front or the rear.
The tractor power and the linkage category: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What the tool does
The roller compacts the silage, and the pusher works with a rotor.
The working width and the weight: we calculate them with you for your machine.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
The roller needs no drive; the pusher rotor is hydraulic.
The power take-off speed and the spool valves: we calculate them with you for your machine.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.
Have your equipment checked.
Describe the silo, bunker or heap, the ensiled forage and the tractor that will compact.
Specify whether spreading is also needed.
- Your tractor Its power, in hp.
- The power take-off Its speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
- The hitch The three-point linkage category.
- The hydraulics The spool valves available.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The silo Bunker between two walls or flat heap, grass or maize:
the guide rollers and the edge compactor are mainly useful between walls. -
02 — The ballast Roller empty or filled with water, added counterweights:
the weight is set according to the tractor that carries it, not as heavy as possible. -
03 — Spreading and compacting A roller alone, a pusher alone, or both:
the pace of the trailers decides whether one tractor is needed to spread and another to compact. -
04 — Transport Overall width, warning signs, towing device:
a wide roller travels on the road differently from how it works on the silo.
What is checked before ordering
-
The tractor linkage It is checked with the roller filled with water, not empty:
the tractor must lift it and remain steerable. -
The pusher hydraulics The rotor requires its own double-acting spool valves:
we check that the tractor has them and that they are sufficient. - The width of the silo Between two walls, the width of the roller is checked against that of the bunker and the passage of the tractor wheels.
-
Driving on the road Signs, lighting, overall width:
we check what the tool must carry before leaving the farm.
