Feeding and ensiling

Beet chopper bucket

A telehandler empties a galvanised bucket full of chopped beet pulp into the hopper of a feeder, next to a heap of sugar beet, on the platform of an anaerobic digestion plant; nobody is visible.
The heap of beet on one side, the pulp in the feeder on the other.

A bucket that picks up beet from the heap,
chops it to the desired fineness,
and pours it into the trough or the feeder.

Other names for this tool: loader beet chopper, root cutter bucket, beet slicer bucket, beet chopper for anaerobic digestion.

01 Use

What it is for

On the left, the scraper gathers the beet from the heap, stones included. On the right, chopped against the counter-blade, they fall as pulp into the trough. Computer-generated image.

Left: the scraper gathers the beet from the heap, stones included.
Right: chopped against the counter-blade, they fall as pulp into the trough.
What sets it apart:
a chopping rotor turns against an adjustable counter-blade, and the pulp comes out at the chosen fineness.
Computer-generated image.

The bucket picks up the beet from the heap with its scraper, then a chopping unit in highly wear-resistant steel reduces it to pulp against a continuously adjustable counter-blade.
The chopper is designed to withstand stones mixed with the roots, and the galvanised finish protects the bucket from corrosion.

This is the tool of the livestock farmer who feeds beet to the animals, and of the farm that supplies a biogas plant.
Picking up, carrying, chopping and pouring are done in a single operation, directly into the trough or the solids feeder.

A chopper bucket is heavy even before it is filled. The capacity of the loader and the ballast of the tractor are judged with the bucket full, arms raised.
The oil flow and the chopping fineness depend on the model and the setting, not on a generic figure.

02 What we check with you

On which machine?

It fits a farm loader, a telehandler, a wheeled loader or a tractor, not an excavator.
Depending on the model, it hitches to a Euro hitch, the three-point linkage, or a wheeled loader or telehandler.
The tractor power, the linkage category, the loader hitch and its lifting capacity: we calculate them with you for your machine.

What the tool does

It is used to chop beet.
The working width and its weight: we calculate them with you for your machine.

What is needed on the hydraulic side

It is driven hydraulically, with a double-acting control.
The number of spool valves and the third function on the loader: we calculate them with you for your machine.

Your study sets the exact value for your machine.

Don't have these figures?
A photo of the machine is enough to start.

03 Your study

Have your equipment checked.

Describe the use of the pulp, animals or biogas, and the machine that will carry the bucket.
Specify the discharge height.

What we need to answer you
  • On a tractor Its power in hp, and the power take-off speed: 540 or 1000 rpm.
  • The tractor hitch The three-point linkage category, and the spool valves available.
  • On a loader Its hitch, Euro or another, and its lifting capacity.
  • The 3rd function Present or not.
  • The work The use.

Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

04 Choice

What determines the choice

  • 01 — Where the pulp goes Animal trough or feeder of a biogas plant:
the chopping fineness is set by the counter-blade, finer for biogas.
  • 02 — The condition of the beet Clean or muddy, mixed with stones:
a stone-resistant chopper and a reinforced scraper count on a heap taken from the field.
  • 03 — The machine and the hitch Loader, telehandler, wheel loader, Euro hitch or three-point linkage:
depending on the model, the same bucket fits at the front or at the rear of the tractor.
  • 04 — The discharge height Trough on the ground, feeder hopper up high:
the machine is chosen with the height to reach, bucket full.
05 Check

What is checked before ordering

  • The oil flow It is checked on the actual machine:
the chopper must keep its speed in the hardest beet.
  • Capacity and ballast They are checked with the bucket full and raised, not with the bucket empty.
  • The hitch Euro hitch, three-point linkage, wheel loader or telehandler coupler:
we check that the coupling is that of the machine.
  • The hydraulics One double-acting control is required:
we check that the machine provides it in addition to the loader movements.
