Rail grab
no sling to pass under a load of several hundred kilos.
Synthetic image.
It grips the rail and holds it.
The tool is the simple part of the problem:
the rest is access to the track.
Other names for this tool: rail handling grab, rail grabs, rail handler.

What it is for
Right: held at a single point, the rail bends and its ends hang down.
What sets it apart:
the tool is the simple part of the problem — the rest is access to the track.
Computer-generated image.
The grab closes on the profile of the rail and holds it during the taking up, the moving or the laying.
It avoids slinging a piece that is long, heavy and smooth, and whose behaviour in the air is never that of a block.
A rail is long:
held at a single point, it bends and it swings.
That is why these jobs often work with two machines, or with a device that spreads the gripping points along the length.
On a track, the tool is the last question. Access to the railway land, the protection regime of the site, the certification of the people and the acceptance of the machine itself are settled beforehand, with the operator of the line.
We shall quote here no rule that we do not master:
those conditions are given to you by the operator, not by an attachment supplier.
On which machine?
The rail grab fits all couplers, via a mounting plate.
What the tool does
This grab is used to grip rails; its weight ranges from 450 to 2 900 kg depending on the model.
Its length is 2 280 mm, to be checked with you.
What is needed on the hydraulic side
It needs two hydraulic circuits: one for opening, one for rotation.
The flow and pressure: we calculate them with you for your machine.
Figures taken from 2 models on the market.
Your study sets the exact value for your machine.
Have your machine checked.
Tell us what rail profile you handle, over what length, and from what position the machine works.
Say also within what framework the operator authorises you to work.
- Your machine Its make and its tonnage.
- The auxiliary circuit Its flow in l/min, its pressure in bar, single- or double-acting.
- The coupler in place Its system and its class.
- The work The use, and the material.
Without these details, the study still begins: we will ask you for them.

What determines the choice
-
01 — The profile of the rail
A handler is designed on a precise section:
it is the first thing to record, before anything else. -
02 — The movement expected
Taking up a worn rail, aligning a new rail, moving a length:
it is not the same grip. - 03 — The rotation Presenting the rail in line with the track without manoeuvring the machine.
-
04 — The carrier machine
Road-rail or from the access road:
that changes the organisation before it changes the tool.
What is checked before ordering
- The profile and length of the rails Recorded, not assumed.
- The conditions of access to the track They come from the operator and govern everything else.
- The working position of the machine From the track, the shoulder or the access road.
- The safety of the load Check valve, condition of the hoses, nobody in the working area.
